Hello, Everyone!
Yes, this blog is about having self-doubt as you write and how a vision board can help
and the tools to conquer it.
Now, I believe at one point or another a person begins to write and then self-doubt
comes into play. I believe in my opinion and even I have suffered from the what if’s
syndrome. What if I am not a good writer? What if I can’t complete it? What if I
screw up and so on and so forth?
Having doubt is a feeling we all have and can certainly be replaced by using tools that
can help destroy the doubt and finish with success.
In my own experiences, I have literally sabotaged my writings with self-doubt. It has
never come to me as a way to cope with what I will write or what my message is
about. It has though stopped me from writing for days even weekends on end but
then I remember someone telling about using a vision board.
With many different ideas for a said vision board; I came up with this.
I went out to Home Depot and bought two cork boards instead of a poster if anyone
has had a project in high school for doing the same thing. I used the cork boards
because as we grow in our lives. Many of our future decisions are found visually how
or what we would like to buy when we make our millions and become famous.
It may seem ridiculous but it has helped more than words can describe. The first one
I have used it a doubt-free board. I put things that make me happy, joyful, dedicated,
determined and courageous. On this board it is not about how I will get to the
finishing phase. It is simply way to remind myself that I am enough and that I can
find myself being happy and joyful that I am doing something some have not done
before. Another is dedication and determination on a deadline or time and place it will
be finished. However, the doubt-free board also reminds me how courageous I am to
be able to show my talents as a human being and not just a writer/author.
I have used in the past another vision board for the afterlife. Let me explain, the
afterlife vision board is not only for what I want to do but also after I leave this earth.
What I want my books to give. This vision board I made when I first started was and
is still the same one I look forward too. The book that will be given to every person
which is trying to read for the first time, the book that is made into brail and the book
that is given to every library in the country.
Some tools that has helped me over the years of writing and one is to find a person
that is enthused about your writings. It helps to give you feedback from others as well.
I am on Facebook not only for my family and friends but to find a community of
other writers that are in the same place as I am.
I make small goals each day much like a time table such as; I will write for this long
and then take a break away from the screen or paper before I start to feel any doubt.
Be patient with your thoughts as you write as not everything will be available when
you do. It takes time to persevere over a task at hand.
Before you think to throw away your work just take a breather for a few moments. It
is better to have fresh eyes, thoughts and ideas than to make an irrational action.
The best advice I can give you is to make it known to yourself that you are NOT
alone in this process. That others such like yourself have also gone through the same
as you may be feeling right now.
Doubt to me has helped me understand my weaknesses and my strengths; it has also
showed me how powerful of a writer I can be. It is a feeling that can be changed from
negativity to positivity. Know that you can change someone else’s idea of writings by
reaching out your abilities and talents to create something out of nothing.

It has helped me on many days.
That is all for now and thank you for reading.
