What makes a novel is it the word count or something else?

Hello Everyone!
Today, I will be discussing word counts in your manuscript. I have been
asked on several occasions on how we as writers decide how many words is
it for such genres. Well, for me in my line or writing has to do on how
long do I want my story to carry through. I write approximately between
sixty to eighty thousand words.
This is how I was taught through other writers in my genre. I also heard
that most general fiction can go as far as eighty to ninety thousand words
in a single novel. Then there are some young adult (YA) novels go from as
low as fifty thousand and as high as eighty thousand just as my mystery
novels go. And then there is still even as much as one-hundred thousand
words or more in fantasy and sci-fi.
At https://careerauthors.com/genre-book-length/ will give you the
rundown on what is expected of a genre as in word counts. However not
everything is always what it seems either. Some writers as much as the story
is carried and some even write more to get there point across. It is always
my thoughts as what you are writing about as the subject or the storyline in
its entirely. I have yet found a novel that hasn’t gone over the signature
word count but again that’s just me.
The word count is a guideline if you will to help where authors can expand
their writings at least this is my opinion of course. Also, in my own
opinion, if I know what my word count should be for the novel then it
gives me a goal or challenge to reach it.
So, if I know my novel would be around eighty-thousand-word count and I
normally have about twenty chapters then each chapter should hold close
to about a four-thousand-word count to match. This allows me to see how
far I can get my characters to express their thoughts and ideas in the
storyline. I like to have a clear and concise guideline to help me in my
novels but again everyone is entitled to their own thought process and
word counts as well.
I hope this has helped you today on your path for writing your truths
